  • Map. County boundaries from U.S. Census Bureau cartographic boundary files (public domain), via the us-atlas package (ISC license), simplified and redrawn as SVG. Town pin positions use published town coordinates from Wikipedia. Pins for the other towns are approximate town centers computed from the NJOGIS municipal boundaries below.
  • Municipal map (home page). Boundaries of New Jersey's 564 municipalities from the NJ Office of Information Technology, Office of GIS (NJOGIS), NJ Municipalities layer (published by NJOGIS as “Municipal Boundaries of New Jersey”, last edited April 10, 2025). License and use: the NJOGIS metadata lists no access constraints and requests acknowledgement of NJOGIS in derived maps, which this is. No formal open license is stated on the service. The data is not a survey document and the polygons do not represent legal boundaries. Changes: reprojected, simplified with mapshaper (Douglas-Peucker, shapes kept) and stored as compact SVG paths. County outlines on the home map are the municipal lines merged by county.
